Christopher Kilgour

Founder of Color in the Outdoors (CITO), Christopher has spent his entire life exploring and enjoying the outdoors in one capacity or another. His main motivation for starting CITO was to be able to connect people with the outside world and with other like-minded individuals and organizations. The guiding principles behind CITO hold a strong space in advocacy for diversity, equity, and inclusion and it is with these concepts in mind that all of the activities, partnerships, links, and resources are developed and presented.

Stewardship, sustainability, education, and mentorship are core components of the CITO ideology and, with the help of partners and collaborations, Christopher hopes to widen the support, advocacy, and engagement in diversifying perspective of and participants in the outdoor world and our relationship to it.

Bobbi Skenandore

Bobbi's (she/her/hers) love for the outdoors started at just 3 days old when her family took her camping for the first time. Since then, she has pursued outdoor adventure after adventure whenever she could. To her, that adventure could be as small as walking to the grocery store or as large as the Cliffs of Moher. While she loves to travel with others, solo adventure has a special place in heart, despite the extra risks as a woman of color who is Mexican and Oneida.

With most of her days spent behind a computer, her favorite thing to do outdoors is to just exist and experience it. She loves hiking and being near water, but with her busy schedule, sometimes all she can do is sit on her balcony and watch the birds on the nearby trees.

Her outdoor bucket list includes: whitewater rafting in the Colorado River, visiting the Redwood Forest, snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef, experiencing the US northeast fall foliage, hiking the Milford Track in New Zealand and so much more.

Tony Dugas

Raised in Lafayette, LA, Tony spent most of his days as a youth fishing, hunting, exploring, learning, cooking, and eating in the outdoors. In 2016, his wife bought him a spinning rod/reel combo and he has since been obsessed with the science, species, gear, lures, and all things fishing. Tony focuses on smallmouth and largemouth bass but loves the pursuit of all species. In addition to education, being an avid runner, and scholar Tony focuses his time on African American history, social justice issues and is an amazing cook of Louisiana creole cuisine. He is currently pursuing his PhD in Educational Leadership at the University of Wisconsin and has recently started a fishing club at his school, Georgia O’Keeffe Middle School in Madison.

Tony believes that people of color have always had a very intimate relationship with nature and the earth and he is committed to being part of the movement that uplifts Black and Brown joy in the outdoors.
